Vacancy and Category-wise Details

There is one vacancy, and no category details are given.

Who Can Apply?

Check these points:

  • Degree: B.Tech in Electrical or Electronics, or any other branch or equal stream.
  • Experience: eight years or more after your degree, related to this work.
  • Age: below 50 on 1 October 2026.

A PhD, M.Tech or MBA is a plus.

Educational Qualification

Although other branches are allowed, this job is about electrical equipment. So an electrical background should help you. That is our view.

What Is a Quality Control Order?

A QCO is a government rule that says a product must meet a set quality standard. Sellers cannot sell it in India if it fails. BIS, the Bureau of Indian Standards, sets many of these standards.

In this job, you would focus on a QCO for low voltage switchgears and controlgears. Those are the devices that safely control and protect electrical circuits.

What Else Would You Do?

  • Talk with companies, test labs and other ministries.
  • Help to write and improve product standards.
  • Work with customs on which products fall under the rule.
  • Suggest how to handle supply chain problems.
  • Review policy documents and foreign investment proposals.
  • Prepare inputs for trade talks.

Age Limit and Application Fee

Below 50 years on 1 October 2026. We did not see a fee in the sections reviewed.

Salary Details

You get Rs. 1,45,000 a month. The yearly raise depends on your work:

  • Normal work: no raise
  • Significant contribution: up to 5 percent
  • Exemplary work with policy impact: up to 10 percent

Selection Process and Exam Pattern

There is no written test mentioned. If you are shortlisted, you will have an interview, online or in person. Be ready to explain your work on standards or regulation, if you have any.

How Long Is the Job?

Two years at first, with one more year possible. The Ministry checks your performance every year. You also have to give a statement of good health, and there are no medical benefits.

How to Apply

  1. Fill in the form in Annexure-I of the PDF.
  2. Attach self-attested certificates and your resume.
  3. Fill in the Google form.
  4. Email it to the three officers listed in the notice.

Who Is This Job For?

This job suits an engineer who enjoys rules and policy as much as technology. You would read and write many official notes, and speak with companies and government officers. If you have worked with BIS standards, product testing or trade rules, you already have a good base.

Advice for Engineering Students

If you hope to reach such a role one day, it may help to learn how standards work. You could also read about QCOs on the BIS or ministry websites. Some engineers build this path through testing labs or compliance teams, and later move to policy work. This is general guidance.

Filling in the Form

The form asks for your marks and your work history, with reasons for leaving past jobs. Please keep these details ready, along with contact details for verification.
