Important Dates
Your form is due by 4:00 PM on 23 November. If you make the shortlist, you meet the Selection Board at 11:00 AM on 27 November. Your exact slot depends on your department, and that will be announced later.
Post-wise Vacancy and Category-wise Vacancy
The notice lists 4 seats in the Dental College in the paid category, without any category-wise split. Also, not all four will be in the main department:
- The third person on the merit list goes to the Tobacco Cessation Centre.
- The fourth person goes to a Peripheral Centre.
Each of those lasts for six months. Think about whether you are fine with this before you apply, as a higher rank may give you a different experience.
Who Should Apply?
You should be a dental graduate. There are two things to watch out for:
- Already done 2 years of JR? You are out.
- Have a private clinic? You cannot run it after selection.
RIMS’s own Dental College graduates get preference. So if you passed from elsewhere, your marks need to be strong.
Selection Process
First a shortlist, and then an appearance before a Selection Board at the Principal’s office conference room.
Exam Pattern or Merit Points
There is no entrance test. Your percentage in I, II, III and IV year BDS is used to pick the top candidates, and only three applicants per seat are called. It is worth working out your percentages carefully before you fill the form, since the form asks for them along with your attempts.
How to Apply
- Collect the form from the Principal’s office, or use the format on page 2 of the PDF. Its heading says House Officer, but it is the form attached to this notice.
- Fill in every box, as an incomplete form gets rejected.
- Attach self-attested copies of your mark sheets, attempt certificate, internship certificate, age proof, provisional pass certificate and Dental Council registration.
- Hand it in before the deadline.
Do confirm with the office whether postal submission is accepted, as the notice does not explain this. You can call 0385-2414720, or email principaldentalcollege@rims.edu.in.
Is It Worth It?
Six months in a medical institute is a helpful addition to your CV, especially if you plan to attempt MDS. That is our view, of course, and your plans may differ.
