Vacancy and Category-wise Details
Two seats, with no category breakup given.
Can You Apply?
You need a master’s in Natural Sciences or Agriculture Sciences from a UGC-recognised university. If yours is in Microbiology, that is an advantage. You must also attach a CSIR, ICAR or DBT JRF-NET or GATE certificate.
The advert does not give an age limit or a required experience. It may be worth checking this with the department, as Senior Research Fellow posts often ask for prior research experience under the funding agency’s rules. That last point is our general note, not from this advert.
How Long Is the Job?
This is the part to clear up. The advert says the project lasts 8 months, and the appointment is for 5 months. So this is a short contract. If you are hoping to use it for a PhD plan, please ask before you commit.
Selection and Exam Pattern
Your papers are reviewed first, and only those shortlisted get an interview. There is no mention of a written test. You will pay your own travel cost to attend.
To prepare, read up on fermented foods of the North-East and Sikkim, and go through basic food microbiology methods. These are just our suggestions.
How to Apply
Prepare one set with your application letter, bio-data, certificate and supporting documents. Address it to Dr. Nagendra Thakur, Associate Professor and Head, Department of Microbiology, Sikkim University.
The advert does not share an email ID, so a phone call to the department may help to confirm how they want it sent.
