Paper Questions Marks Time
Reasoning 50 25 30 min
English 50 50 30 min
General Awareness 50 25 25 min
Professional Knowledge 50 100 35 min

Here is what this means for you:

  • Three papers are “qualifying”. Reasoning, English and General Awareness only need a pass. Their marks do not go into your final score.
  • Professional Knowledge decides your rank. It carries 70% of your final score. The interview carries the other 30%.
  • No minus marks. A wrong answer costs you nothing, so attempt every question.

Syllabus for Professional Knowledge

The notice gives 15 units for this paper:

  1. Security basics and principles
  2. Security management
  3. Risk assessment and risk management
  4. Security hardware, such as metal detectors, scanners and alarms
  5. Security software, such as SOPs and drills

  12. IT security from the physical security side
  13. Liaison with police, army and other agencies
  14. Security management in banks, including cash, vaults and ATMs
