Vacancy and Category-wise Details

The brief notification only gives the total. For the breakup by community and other details, open the Detailed Notification on psc.ap.gov.in, and check your category before you apply.

Selection and Exam Pattern

You write just one exam, on a computer. It has two papers:

  • Paper I: General Studies and Mental Ability
  • Paper II: Hindu Philosophy and Temple System

Each paper has 150 questions, 150 minutes and 150 marks. So you get about a minute a question. Every wrong answer costs you one-third of a mark. If the exam runs in several sessions, your marks may be normalised.

How Paper II Changes Things

A typical graduate has probably not studied this subject before. That is both a challenge and a chance. Many others will be starting at the same level, and strong marks here could set you apart. This is our view, so please read the official syllabus and judge for yourself.

A Plan That Could Work

Again, this is friendly advice, and not from the commission:

  1. Print the syllabus annexed to the notification, and mark what is new to you.
  2. Build Paper II notes topic by topic, and use trusted books on the subject.
  3. For Paper I, focus on current affairs and the AP angle in history, geography and polity.
  4. Take timed mock tests, and watch how many wrong guesses you make.

How Negative Marking Should Affect You

With a third of a mark lost per wrong answer, random guessing can hurt, but an educated guess between two options can still pay. Try it out on mock tests first, and note what works for you.

How to Apply

Go to psc.ap.gov.in, log in or register, and fill in the form for Notification 23/2026. Only online forms count, so take care to read everything before you hit submit.

Check This First

Your bachelor’s degree should be in hand as on the date of the Detailed Notification. That date counts for all purposes. So if you are still awaiting a result, read this rule closely before you pay.
