Vacancy and Category-wise Details

All 17 posts carry the same title, and the notice does not split them by sport or category in its table. Posting can be anywhere in India, at centres where SAI runs its schemes. SAI can also keep a panel for a year, so a person on it may be used later.

Who Can Apply?

Think of this as two checks.

First, your service. You should have worked as an officer under the central or a state government, or a Union Territory. You should have held a similar post, or served for five years in Level 12.

Second, your coaching background. You need one of these three:

  1. A coaching diploma from NS NIS Patiala, or an equal diploma from a recognised institute.
  2. Participation in the Olympics, Paralympics, Asian Games, World Championship or an equal event, plus a coaching certificate.
  3. The Dronacharya Award.

Educational Qualification

The main qualification is the coaching diploma or its alternatives above. Five years of coaching experience in the relevant sport is listed as desirable.

Age Limit and Application Fee

You must not be above 64 on 30 October 2026. We could not find an application fee in the pages we reviewed, so please read the full notice before you pay anything.

Salary Details: What Is LPD Minus Pension?

LPD means Last Pay Drawn. It is the pay you were getting when you retired. SAI subtracts your basic pension from that, and the balance is your fixed monthly pay.

Here is a simple example, using made-up numbers. If your last pay was Rs. 1,50,000 and your basic pension is Rs. 75,000, the monthly amount would be Rs. 75,000. If you took a commuted pension, that part still counts as pension for this calculation.

This amount stays fixed for the full contract. You get no yearly raise and no Dearness Allowance. Tax is cut before payment.

Selection Process and Exam Pattern

There is no written exam. SAI checks applications for relevant experience, and then calls eligible people for an interview. You will pay for your own travel to the interview. A selection committee makes the final recommendation.

Things to Know Before Joining

  • You must attend office regularly, and cannot take other work.
  • If your performance is not good, SAI can end the job with 15 days’ notice.
  • If you want to leave, you must give 30 days’ notice or one month’s pay.
  • You cannot publish a book or articles from this work without approval.

How to Apply

  1. Go to the SAI website, and open the jobs portal.
  2. Fill in your details carefully.
  3. Scan and upload your photo and signature.
  4. Upload your latest Last Pay Certificate and your Pension Payment Order.
  5. Add a No Objection Certificate if you are still working in a government body.
  6. Submit the form, and keep a copy.

Keep your experience certificates clear and correct. SAI can reject ones without proper details. After you apply, keep checking your email, as the notice asks.

What Does Level 13 Mean?

Government jobs in India use pay levels from a table called the pay matrix. Level 13 is a senior level, with a range of Rs. 1,23,100 to Rs. 2,15,900 for this post. But here, the level only shows the rank of the post. Your real monthly amount comes from the LPD minus pension formula explained above.

If you are a young player thinking about a coaching career, the eligibility list is useful to read. It shows that the NIS diploma, major tournament experience and coaching certificates are the routes that SAI values for senior posts.
